Top 10 Eco-friendly Products to Minimize Waste in your Home
On that note, we wanted to share our favorite products on the market. We chose these products because, apart from a few, they are relatively easy to swap.
Top Ten Eco-friendly Products
#1 Cloth Napkins
Top of the list is, of course, swapping out paper napkins for cloth napkins.
We realize paper napkins are convenient for certain situations such as large informal parties, casual dining establishments etc., but for home use, re-usable, washable napkins just make more sense.
Our napkins are conveniently sized to effortlessly fit into any napkin holder. They are also intentionally designed to be lightweight enough so you can stack up to 20 napkins. Toss, wash, re-use indefinitely. Shop now.
#2 Reusable Kitchen Cloths
We get it, you don’t want to pat dry your protein with anything other than a paper towel, but apart from a few use cases and seldom, unsavory clean-ups, we entrust paper towels with too many menial tasks that can easily be passed onto the reliable kitchen cloth.
#3 Environmentally-friendly Dish Sponges
Probably the easiest swap-out on the list. Most dish sponges are made of synthetic materials, which are essentially non-biodegradable. Switch to eco-friendly sponges. You won’t even notice a blip in your radar.
#4 Powder to Liquid Dish Soap
About a decade or so ago eco-friendly soaps were all the rage. Since then, the vessel and not its contents have become the primary concern. Okay, perhaps that’s an overstatement as we do care about the contents, but plastic packaging has become a real problem simply because there is just so much of it.
These powder to gel dish soap checks all the boxes. It's magical!
#5 Foaming Hand Soap Kit
Similar to dish soap, the idea is to minimize plastic usage wherever possible. Many have ditched the bar soap for the convenience of liquid hand soap, and there's really no reason to give it up when you can get products like the one below. Ooh-la-la, now you’re speaking our language.
#6 Laundry Detergent Sheets
Hands-down one of our favorites! Not least because they are planet-friendly and they actually work, or because they take up a fraction of the space, but mainly because… who wants to lug around a giant, clunky bottle of soap.
#7 Fabric Softener Wool Dryer Balls
Think how fast you burn through a box of fabric softeners, say, in a year, and consider that every sheet is made of non-biodegradable plastic. What’s their purpose again?
Instead, use wool dryer balls to naturally reduce static electricity. That’ll save you a pretty penny each year.
#8 A Better Deodorant Sticks
The thought and ingenuity that goes into the design of a lot of our everyday products do deserve some recognition. The problem is, the amount of time and resources and trail of production sewage created by these clever designs last but a short while before they need to be trashed and replaced again.
Aside from the packaging, most deodorants contain a slew of toxic chemicals, the most common being aluminum which is a skin irritant and poisonous neurotoxin that builds up in the body.
#9 Reusable Maxi Pads
One just for the ladies! If you use maxi pads, these reusable pads might be a good swap, but it may all depend on your flow. Use as panty liners or when the flow dwindles into a trickle.
#10 Reusable Toilet Paper
This one sounds kind of strange, but the idea is starting to grow on us. We're guessing this one might be more for the ladies. Maybe not?! #1? #2? You decide.
That's it! We hope you found some great new additions for your home or, at the very least, gave you some inspiration on how to make your buying power more conducive to protecting our planet.
As they say, humans can trash the planet and we may perish as a result, but left to its own devices, the planet will eventually heal itself. Ultimately, we make conscious choices so that we, and future generations, may continue to thrive.
